German Chart Comments - Issue Date 28.10.2016

Rag'n'Bone Man scores a fifth consecutive week as Germany's number one single, followed this time by David Guetta, Cedric Cervais and Chris Willis and their "Would I Lie To You", which rises two to #2. The song thus boosts the number of tracks with a David Guetta participation to reach the German top three to eight. Sia's "The Greatest" sticks to its last week position and completes the top three.

Inside the top ten there are new peak positions achieved by "My Way" of Calvin Harris, up one to #5, and The Weeknd and Daft Punk's "Starboy", also up one to #7.

Coinciding with the release of his new album, local singer Tim Bendzko advances 15 positions to #14 with "Keine Maschine" - his fifth top 20 appearance so far.

Lil Kleine & Ronnie Flex inch up one to #16 with "Stoff & Schnapps", while Kungs has his second top 20 hit in Germany in the shape of "Don't You Know", up six to #17. Zara Larsson moves up one to #18 with "Ain't My Fault".

Also on the right track is James Arthur's latest "Say You Won't Let Go". It jumps ten to #21. Thanks to his appearance on the ARD show "Schlagerboom" and to a new MTV Unplugged version, Andreas Gabalier's "Hulapalu" soars to #24 from #61 in its 44th week on the countdown. It's definitely one of the hits of the year although never reaching more than #13.

"What Is Love 2016" of Lost Frequencies enters the top 30 at #27, up from #39, while the highest new entry belongs to British (now) trio Clean Bandit with the help of Sean Paul & Anne-Marie. Their new offering "Rockabye" comes in at #28, managing to considerably improve on the #95 peak of previous single "Tears", which although becoming a major hit in the UK was a great disappointment in Germany. Clean Bandit's most successful singles in this country are "Rather Be" and "Real Love", reaching #2 and #1, respectively.

Max Giesinger had one of the football-related hits this year with "80 Millionen" (peak #2), while its follow-up named "Wenn sie tanzt" enters the top 40 this week at #31, up by thirteen positions. Anne-Marie, who has provided vocals to the aforementioned Clean Bandit's track, registers a new peak with her own "Alarm" at #32, up three.

And while we wait for LP and her massive "Lost on You" to finally storm the top 40 next week, let's take a look at the remaining new entries. Rapper KC Rebell has a new track at #49 called "Mosquitos", Böhse Onkelz, who used to debut at #2 in the past, have to be now content with #58 where "Irgendwas für nichts" lands. Maite Kelly, she of the Kelly Family fame, was also one of the participants in the "Schlagerboom" and duly her single "Sieben Leben für dich" is new at #60. It's good to see Mark Forster back in the chart with "Chöre" at #72, an album track of Robbie Williams appears at #74 called "Love My Life", while Philipp Poisel's "Bis ans Ende der Hölle" is at #83. There's also a new song by Kungs as "I Feel So Bad" arrives at #89.

The Album Chart 

It's the aforementioned Tim Bendzko who scores his second consecutive number one album with "Immer noch Mensch" debuting straight and deservingly at the top. He thus beats rapper Olexesh and his best effort so far "Makadam" at #2. In another week full of new releases Korn return to form with "The Serenity of Suffering" at #3, while Michael Buble continues to be big with "Nobody But Me" entering at #4 just in time for the Christmas sales. Leonard Cohen has a new album at #5 with "You Want It Darker". Thus "Joanne", the longly anticipated new album of (once) superstar Lady Gaga, manages to arrive no higher than #6. Local sensation Oonagh is new at #7 with "Märchen enden gut" and local rapper M.I.K.I. debuts at #9 with sophomore album "Kurvenmukke".
