German Chart Comments - Issue Date 27.05.2016

Justin Timberlake spends a second week as Germany's #1 single with his catchy and feelgood anthem "Can't Stop The Feeling!". The song is actually his second single as a solo artist to reach the summit after "SexyBack" did so way back in 2006. Justin has also provided vocals to number-one smashes "Where Is The Love" of Black Eyed Peas and "4 Minutes" of Madonna.
Kungs vs. Cookin' On 3 Burners have cooked the first proper dance hit of summer 2016 as "This Girl" moves up two to #2, while former number one "One Dance" of Drake feat. Wizkid & Kyla slips one position to #3.
There are new peaks inside the top ten coming from Calvin Harris & Rihanna's "This is What You Came Here For", up three to #8, and The Chainsmokers' "Don't Let Me Down", up four to #7.

Desiigner's "Panda" is slowly reaching the top ten and is this week up four to #13. Cheat Codes X Kris Kross Amsterdam go up two to #16 with "Sex", while Galantis have their first ever top 20 hit with "No Money". It rises nine to #18.

Alle Farben's "Please Tell Rosie" climbs to #22 from #30 in its sixth week in the top 100 and is destined to become the third hit of the German DJ and producer after "She Moves (Far Away)" (peak #9) and "Supergirl" (peak #2).

Superstar Jennifer Lopez hasn't got a proper hit in Germany since her Pitbull collaboration "We Are One (Ole Ola)" reached #6 in 2014. Perhaps this is gonna change with "Ain't Your Mama" rising ten to #25, promising a return to reform for miss Lopez.
Gnash's "I Hate U, I Love U" enters the top 30 at #27, up from #36, becoming the first ever hit of the US musician.

Although Drake's "One Dance" is still in the top three, "Too Good", the Canadian rapper's second offering from his current album, is already making waves as it soars to #36 from #53.

And finally, it has taken eleven weeks for rapper Ali As with the help of Namika to enter the top 40 with their collaboration "Lass sie tanzen (Square Dance)". The song is up five to #47.

German Chart Comments - Issue Date 6.05.2016

It was expected and took just four weeks for Drake to have his first ever number one hit in Germany with "One Dance" moving up one to replace Sia's "Cheap Thrills" atop the singles chart. The latter retreats to the runner-up slot, while "Faded", the former number one of Alan Walker, sticks to #5.

The highest new entry this weeks comes from the star collaboration of Calvin Harris and Rihanna and their "surprising" new release "This Is What You Came For". Rihanna and Harris' previous team-up brought us #1 global smash "We Found Love". Now Calvin has six top ten singles to his account in Germany, while the list of hits of Riri that have gone among the first ten positions expands to the whopping 24...

"This Girl", the debut single of dance project Kungs vs Cookin' On 3 Burners, expectedly enters the top 10 by soaring 17 positions to #10. While at #17, up from #26, "Panda", the debut single of US rapper Desiigner, makes it big in Germany.

Julian Perretta's "Miracle" advances three to #20, while next to it, at #21, we can find "Sex" of Cheat Codes X Kris Kross Amsterdam. It was at #31 last week.

Speaking of dance tunes, Galantis' third single in Germany called "No Money" finally becomes the song with which Germans have acknowledged the Swedish DJ duo. It skyrockets from #76 to #31 to outpeak previous offerings "Runaway (U & I)" (#58) and "Peanut Butter Jelly" (#76).

"I Hate U I Love U", the single of US newcomer Gnash (with the participation of Olivia O'Brien), which has already topped the charts in Australia, is ready to conquer the globe. The song moves seventeen to #37 in its second week in the top 100.

The Other New Entries:

The "Sing meinen Song - Das Tauschkonzert, Vol.3" collaboration, which for reasons unknown continues to be considered as an album, arrives at #2, cementing the cult status of the previous two installments. Andrea Berg and her "Seelenbeben" round up the top three, after slipping two to #3 following three weeks as Germany's most sold album.

German Chart Comments - Issue Date 29.04.2016

Sia and Sean Paul defend their first position in Germany for a second week in a row with "Cheap Thrills". The song is also the first ever with a participation of Sean Paul to reach the summit in Germany. So far his most successful single has been "She Doesn't Mind", which peaked at #2 in 2011.

Drake's worldwide smash "Last Dance" enters the top three this week by climbing four to #2 in its third week in the chart, becoming easily the best performing single of the Canadian singer in Germany.

The top three is rounded up by Alan Walker and his former number one "Faded". It slips one to #3.

This week's chart was of course marked by the surpassing passing of Prince, one of the most influential and beloved superstars. His music career in Germany's singles chart dates back from 1985 when now classic "When Doves Cry" reached #15. To his account the singer has four top ten singles, with the biggest of them being "Kiss" with a #4 peak in 1986. Now he is back inside the top 100 with four songs, with "Purple Rain" leading them at #13. The hit reached #5 when first released some 30 years ago.

As marking new peaks inside the top 20 we can see The Chainsmokers' "Don't Let Me Down" (up one to #8),  Mark Forster's "Wir sind groß" (up six to #9), DNCE's "Cake By The Ocean" (up five to #11) and Walking On Cars' "Speeding Cars" (up five to #18). Max Giesinger's "80 Millionen" enters the top 30 at #21, climbing from #35, and US #1 "Panda" of Desiigner moves up three to #26.

The highest new entry comes from Troye Sivan, the Australian singer/actor who gained fame via YouTube and who has turned into one of the most promising new stars of the year. "Youth" is not the first single of Troye to enter the German charts (that honour belongs to "Happy Little Pill", which spent a week at #87 in 2014) but it is definitely the one which has really kicked off his pop career. The song enters at #22.

Three new dance hits are ready to storm the chart and to prepare us for the summer. First of them is "Miracle" of UK singer Julian Perretta. He appeared in the top 100 back in 2014 with "Body Talk (Mammoth), peak #90, a collaboration with Dimitri Vegas and Moguai, but "Miracle" is the first proper hit to his name. It soars 30 places and lands at #23. The next one comes from French deep house DJ Kungs together with something called Cookin' On 3 Burners. "This Girl", which already hit #1 in France, climbs from #66 to #27 in Germany. And last, but not least, Cheat Codes X Kris Kross Amsterdam bring "Sex", their take on Salt-N-Pepa's number one "Let's Talk About Sex", to #31, up from #42.

Following his collaboration with Mark Forster under the name of EFF and number one single "Stimme", Felix Jaehn is ready with another curious team-up. This time around the dance producer has turned to local legend Herbert Grönemeyer, who provides vocals to Felix' latest offering - "Jeder für Jeden". It is new at #45.

The Other New Entries:

54. Gnash feat. Olivia O'Brien - I Hate U I Love U
64. Kontra K - Ikarus
70. Kiiara - Gold 71. Beyoncé feat. The Weeknd - 6 Inch
74. Beyoncé - Formation 76. Galantis - No Money
86. Rihanna - Needed Me

The Album Chart

Andrea Berg shows no signs of letting go the number one position soon (who'd have expected otherwise) and "Seelenbeben" spends untroubled its third week at the top. The highest new entry belongs to Austrian superstar Christina Stürmer and her seventh studio album "Seite an Seite" at #2. This is a return to form for Christina as none of her albums after breakthrough "Liebe lauter" hit #1 has been so high in the chart. Beyonce's latest surprising release "Lemonade" storms the chart at #3 for just a few days of sales. According to the company responsible for the charts calculation, this is the first ever digital only release to go inside the top three. With a price of around EUR 18 who would have expected less? Beyonce's previous surprise album only managed #11. Eko Fresh is new at #4 with his latest offering called "Freezy". Prince is back to the album top 100 with a total of seven albums and compilations, led by "The Very Best of" at #5.
