Klingande's "Jubel" continues to amaze as it spends a fifth week on top
of Germany's singles chart. It is followed by "Lieder" of Adel Tawil,
which manages to return to #2 (from #4) four weeks after the song
debuted there. At #3 Avicii's "Hey Brother" slips one to
round up the top three.
The highest new entry, at #4, sees the
return of one of the biggest German stars at the moment as Sido makes
"Einer dieser Steine" his fourth top five single. The song follows
"Bilder im Kopf", which peaked at #5 last year, turning into perhaps his
most famous song ever. "Einer dieser Steine", which by the looks of it
will mark the release of a new album, is a collaboration with Mark
Forster, a local singer who has had two singles inside the top 100 so
far, with "Auf dem Weg" (peak #49) being the more successful one.
Despite
the slow start three weeks ago and coinciding with the release of his
latest album (of course at #1), "Go Gentle" of Robbie Williams makes it
this time around into the top 20, up from #25 to #16. The song thus
boosts Robbie's string of top 20 hits in Germany to nineteen.
Following
the success of Klingande, it is not odd to see more trying to copy the
winning formula. That's the case at #21 where we have this week Faul
& Wad Ad vs. Pnau debuting with "Changes".
At #22, up from #69,
"Atemlos Durch Die Nacht", Helene Fischer's second single from her
multi-selling new album, is slowly turning the schlager star into a star
in the singles chart as well.
A combination Calvin Harris &
Hurts should have set the German charts on fire (because of Hurts, not
of the British DJ), but for now "Under Control" has to be content with
#25. Last Calvin Harris was in the top 100 with "Thinking About You"
(peak #56), while Hurts were here with "Somebody to Die For" (peak #46).
After
"Roar" was deprived of the number one slot by that awful DeRulo's song,
Katy Perry has released the follow-up in the shape of
"Unconditionally". The song enters this week the top 50 at #34, up from
#54, to continue Katy's unharmed string of top 40 hits.
At #45 Kid
Ink and Chris Brown move up two to a new peak, while Sportfreunde
Stiller's great "New York, Rio, Rosenheim" finally makes it into the top
50 by climbing 11 places to #49. The follow-up to #4 hit "Applaus,
Applaus" has been shamefully met with a little interest so far.

This week sees Robbie Williams having his eleventh LP reaching the #1 slot in Germany - a feat, which I'm sure very few can be proud of. "Swings Both Ways" tops the chart 12 years after "Swing When You’re Winning" did the same. Following several TV appearances Helene Fischer's "Farbenspiel" returns to the top three, up three to #2, while last week's number one - Eminem's "
The Marshall Mathers LP 2" is down to #3. Also new inside the top ten is Eric Clapton's "Crossroads - Guitar Festival 2013" at #5.

Klingande celebrates a fourth (non-consecutive) week
atop the German singles countdown, with Avicii's "Hey Brother" still at
#2. At #3 Kassel-indie sensation Milky Chance moves up a position to
enter the top three for the first time with "Stolen Dance".
Loathe it or admire it, but "Wrecking
Ball" of Miley Cyrus has not only received two weeks ago the award for
best video of M(moron)TV Europe but due to the additional publicity
rises up ten to #6 in the German top 100. Thus it becomes the only song
of the provocative star to enter the German top 10. Scandal definitely
sells.
Though we're still in the waiting zone for a video and a proper
promotion for this one, Lady Gaga's (hopefully it's the right one)
follow-up to top ten hit "Applause" climbs from #26 to #17. "Do What U Want", a team-up with R Kelly, marks the 12th single of Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta in the German top 20.
Last
time around I complained about the poor chart success of Robbie
Williams and his latest "Go Gentle". This week he manages to make the
situation a little bit rosier, with the single rising 15 to #25. The top
ten, however, is still out of reach.
At #27 Drake, up from #35, is definitely going home, if the home is the top 30, as "Hold
On, We're Going Home" is gaining in strength with every single week. At
the same time, at #29, though for a moment it seemed that "The Fox" is
not gonna be huge (it is still not) in Germany, the Ylvis party smasher
at least manages to climb this week inside the top 30 by moving 13
places.
A "Wetten das" promotion and a new album behind her,
it's time for Celine Dion to finally return to the brighter side of the
German hitparade. In its second week on the list, "Loved
Me Back To Life", the title track from Dion's freshly released album,
soars to #38 from #80. Her last appearance in the chart was with 2007's minor
hit "Taking Chances", which peaked at #25.
At #39 The Moody Blues return to the chart with "Nights
In White Satin", with the hit from 1967 already reaching #18 in the
past. Its resurrection is thanks to a recent beautiful performance on The Voice Of Germany.
The highest new entry comes as low as #46, belonging to Frei.Wild and "Verdammte
Welt" and as it is 100% certain that it won't make it for a second
week, let's move on to #47. There Kid Ink rises 20 with "Show Me", a
collaboration with Chris Brown. Kid Ink's only top 100 single so far has
been "Money and the Power", with a peak #70.
And some thoughts for the second highest new entry, which makes it barely inside the top 50. "Don't U Feel Alright" is the third single of dance project DJane HouseKat inside the countdown. In 2012 "My Party", surprisingly, peaked at #4, though I'm not sure that anyone actually remembers it.

The Album Chart
This year it is extremely rare to see an album standing for a second week on top of the charts but Eminem manages the feat as his "The Marshall Mathers LP 2" is still #1. And that despite the heavy competition from The Rolling Stones and their latest "Sweet Summer Sun - Hyde Park Live", which comes at #2. At #3 Lady Gaga fails to make a greater impact with her much anticipated third album called "Artpop". Her first two albums both reached #1. "Lieder", the debut solo album of Adel Tawil, can be found at #4. Also new inside the top ten, is The Beatles' "On Air - Live At The BBC Volume 2", which arrives at #8.

Klingande's "Jubel" clocks up a third week on top of the German singles
hitparade, proving that its climb to the summit was not an one-off. Up
one, to #2, is Avicii's former chart topper "Hey Brother", while
"Monster" of Eminem and Rihanna moves up four to #3 in its second week
in the Top 100. It thus becomes the sixth top three single of the US
rapper, who this week also makes new peaks with "Survival" (up from #32
to #20) and "Rap God" (up to #33 from #44). Oh, and Eminem also managed
to crown the album chart with a splash.
At #7 "Timber" of Pitbull,
with the help of Ke$ha rises six positions to be marked as Pitbull's
sixth top ten single in Germany as a lead artist.
Worldwide phenomenal "Royals" of Lorde has finally reached the top ten in Germany and this week edges up two to #9.
As
it is the trend these days (look at Eminem, Gaga, Bieber), Adel Tawil
has released a new single a week after his "Lieder" entered at #2 (this
week down to #6). However, the new "Aschenflug", which features Sido and Prinz Pi
and appears at #18 this week, looks to be a proper single, with a video
and promotion, so well done for him. And, though, I really like the
track, I still think that it sounds a lot like "Vom selben Stern", one
of Ich + Ich biggest hits, which makes me wonder why Adel needed this
solo career at all...
Speaking of Gaga, the Lady has (of course) a new song in the top 100. This time, it is "Dope" at #34.
At
#35 it is interesting to observe how US star Drake slowly but steadily is
making "Hold On, We're Going Home" his first ever hit in Germany. The
song moves up four.
Germany was one of the few countries where the superstar status of Robbie Williams was unharmed with every pilot single from his albums since 2001 reaching the top three. Now, however, though "Go Gentle" marks the release of "Swing Both Ways", it stumbles at #40. Robbie was last in the Top 100 with "Different", which reached #31 last year.
And last for the top 50, we have a serious question - which is the current single of Rihanna? Is it "Pour It Up", which is on heavy rotation on the "music" channels, or is it "What Is Now", which has had no video until today? Yes, apparently it is the latter, which soars from #84 to #49.

The Album Chart
Following two #2 albums Eminem has his fourth #1 album in Germany with "The Marshall Mathers LP 2". In 2000 the first "The Marshall Mathers LP" reached #3. Helene Fischer is still at #2, promising to stay in the top three forever with "Farbenspiel", while Fettes Brot's "3 Is Ne Party" enters at #3. The LP thus manages to repeat the peak of Fettes Brot best performing album so far - "Strom und Drang" from 2008. Also new in the top 10 is the third album of German rapper Summer Cem as "Babas Barbies & Bargeld" lands at #5, while Celine Dion's "Loved Me Back To Life" arrives at #10.

This week Klingande's "Jubel" manages once again
to reach the top slot after giving it up to Avicii's "Hey Brother" last
time around. Thus "Jubel" spends a second non-consecutive week as #1,
while "Hey Brother" slips two to #3.
In between we have the highest
new entry coming from Adel Tawil. "Lieder" marks the first solo single
of the Ich + Ich singer and its success shows that Adel Tawil has
managed to find the right path. As part of duo Ich + Ich, Adel had one
number one hit with "Pflaster", while the great "Stark" peaked also at
#2.
Just prior to the release of his new album, Eminem has put on
the market yet another song after "Berzerk" (peak #10), "Survival" (peak
#32) and "Rap God" (peak #42). This time, with the support of Rihanna,
he has made it significantly better as "The Monster" arrives straight at
#7 to become Eminem's 14th top ten single. Of course, "Love the Way You Lie", the previous Eminem & RiRi collaboration reached #1.
Within
the top 20, Lorde's "Royals" continues to climb, this week at #11 from
#17, while Pitbull and Kesha's "Timber" moves seven to #13.
Though
their previous single "The Best Song Ever" peaked at #20, One Direction
continue to miss the top 20 in Germany as their latest, "Story Of My
Life", enters at #23. It is the fourth top 30 single of the boys in
Germany.
At #26 we have Lady Gaga's "Do What U Want" moving up one to
#26, while "Venus", a new promotional track (or is it a single?) from
her new album, arrives this week at #35.
At #31 The BossHoss' "Do It" makes a new peak, up from #35, while Eminem's "Survival" rises to #32 from #52.
After
the success of "Animals" of Martin Garrix, it is no strange to see
similar songs in the upper reaches of the chart. This time Belgian
brothers Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike bring "Project T" at #33, which
becomes the second single of the duo to enter the German charts after
"Mammoth" reached #90 earlier this year.
Following his uncredited
provision of the vocals for "Wake Me Up" of Avicii this summer, Aloe
Black has released his own take on the song, which this week succeeds in
entering the top 50 at #42, up from #71. Aloe Black has had two hit
singles on his account so far - "I Need A Dollar" (peak #4) and "Loving
You Is Killing Me" (peak #12).
After last week Justin Bieber's latest
weekly offering missed the top 50, this week he makes it a little
better with "Recovery" at #50.

The Album Chart
After a three week stay at #1, and already becoming the most sold album of the year, Helene Fischer's "Farbenspiel" slips this week to #2, leaving the way for local rapper Prince Kay One and his " Rich Kidz" to crown the charts. Together with Bushido and Fler, the rapper, then known as Kay One, brought "Berlins Most Wanted" to #2 in 2010. At #3, "48", becomes the most successful album of Ina Müller, while "Recharged" of Linkin Park enters at #4. Also new at #6 is Arcade Fire's "Reflektor", David Garrett's soundtrack "Garrett vs Paganini" enters at #8, while "Viel zu lang gewartet" of veteran Howard Carpendale appears at #9.

Somewhat expectedly Avicii's "Hey Brother" has climbed to the top slot
in Germany to become his second number one after "Wake Me Up" was there
this summer. The song continues to be
without a video and promotion, which makes its presence at the top even
more interesting.
After a one-week stay at #1, "Jubel" of Klingande slips one to two, while James Blunt's former number one sticks to #3.
On
the rise this week continues to be Milky Chance and "Stolen Dance",
which moves up three to #4, while at #9, up from #22, we can found
"Lifesaver" of Finnish band Sunrise Avenue. The song, which benefits
from the band's vocalist participation as a coach in The Voice Of
Germany, becomes the third single of the boys to make it inside the top
ten next to "Fairytale Gone Bad" and "Hollywood Hills", which both peaked at #3. (Oh, and these songs even re-enter the countdown this week at #46 and #36, respectively.)
Prince
Kay One made a brief but a memorable appearance at #4 earlier this year
with "V.I.P.". Now the German rapper follows that with "Keep Calm (Fuck
U)" at #11.
Slowly on the rise inside the top 20 we have this week
Lorde's "Royals", up one to #17, Bastille's "Things We Lost In The
Fire", up two to #18 and Pitbull and Kesha's "Timber", up one to #20.
The
second highest new entry of the week belongs to Lady Gaga and the
second single from her much anticipated album "Artpop". "Do What U Want"
appears this week at #27, on the back of "Applause", which despite a
steady presence in the top 20, managed to reach only #5. The new song
also marks the return of R Kelly in the top 100 since 2007.
Further down the top 50, it's up three for Ylvis and "The Fox", this week at #38, and five for Drake's "We're Going Home", which occupies #39.

Despite
the arrival of four new entries inside the top five, no one is able to
stop the monstrous sales of Helene Fischer's "Farbenspiel", which spends
a third consecutive week on top. The new album of James Blunt, "Moon
Landing", leads the newcomers at #2 (now the UK singer has two #1 and
two #2 albums). Sunrise Avenue have their best charting album as "Unholy
Ground" enters at #3, followed by the latest of Katy Perry at #4.
"Prism" is, strangely, the first album of Katy Perry to chart higher
than #5. Next up, at #5, we can found the latest LP of Motorhead called
"Aftershock". Also new in the top ten at #10 is Bosca's "Solange Es Schlägt".
